  1. Locate the power toggle and flip up to on.
  2. Place desired rotor in the centrifuge. Place lid on rotor and tighten counterclockwise until tight. Sorval rotor lids also have a safety nut in the center of the lid. Tighten this nut counterclockwise until tight and close lid. Door light will come on indicating that the rotor is motionless and door may be opened.
  3. Sorval centrifuges have a dual temperature setting- outside dial is for overtemp setting, inside dial is for actual temperature. The centrifuge will not start if the interior temperature exceeds the overtemp setting.
  4. Set the rpm by turning the ANGULAR VELOCITY dial.
  5. If the brake is desired, press the BRAKE button and its light will come on.
  6. Set the time by turning the TIME dial. Note: to ensure proper time setting, go past the desired time and then come back to it.
  7. After all parameters are set press the START button. The door light will go out indicating the rotor is in motion and the door cannot be opened.
  8. When the run is complete and the rotor has stopped, the door light will come on. To stop the rotor before the time has expired, move the TIME dial to "0".
  9. When run is completed, turn off the centrifuge, leave the door ajar, and return the rotor to the cold room.
  10. Notify a service representative if the BRUSHES light comes on.
