COGENE Objectives
COGENE is funded by the National Institute of Dental and
Craniofacial Research under Contract NO1-DE-92630.
The goals of COGENE are:
- The development of twelve normalized cDNA libraries
that cover many of the early stages of human oral and craniofacial development
and their dissemination to the I.M.A.G.E. consortium for conventional
EST generation.
- The development, by intra-library and inter-library
subtraction methods, of sub-libraries with a higher frequency of previously
undiscovered/differentially expressed cDNAs.
- The derivation of over 3,000 EST sequences
in the course of library validation and subtractive library screening.
- The production of eleven SAGE libraries from
early stages of craniofacial development and the analyses of approximately
50,000 SAGE tags from each of these libraries.
- The derivation of 1,000 cDNAs and cDNA sequences
that correspond to SAGE differences. These sequences will be in addition
to the 3,000 sequences mentioned above.
- The analysis of quantitative changes in the
expression of 43,000 genes during 62 different comparative stages of
craniofacial development by hybridization of labeled cDNAs to GeneChips.
- The development of a relational database and
web site that contains all the information gathered in this project.
