COGENE is a consortium of investigators involved in describing human gene expression changes that occur during early stages of development with particular emphasis on craniofacial development. This project is funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, contract N01-DE-92630, entitled "Novel human oral and craniofacial genes". Project officers are Kenneth M. Yamada (Chief, Craniofacial Developmental Biology and Regeneration Branch) and Yoshihiko Yamada (Chief, Molecular Biology Section, Craniofacial Developmental Biology and Regeneration Branch). The consortium involves the following three laboratories:

Dr. Michael Lovett's laboratory, Division of Human Genetics, Department of Genetics, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Michel Vekemans' laboratory, Embryologie moléculaire, Universite Rene Descartes, Hopital Necker Enfants Malades, Paris, France.

Dr. Ethylin Wang Jabs' laboratory, and Center for Craniofacial Development and Disorders (CCDD), Johns Hopkins University.
